The gymnasium is a mutifunctioneel complex of the Radboud University, by AAI designed and put into operation in 2002. The southern part is the Radboud Sports Centre (RSC) and is rebuild by AAI in 2016. At the moment, the HAN’s “Sport and Movement” housing is being realized in the parking garage under the RSC.
The northern part of the Gymnasion, including offices, student facilities and educational facilities, will be made suitable for the new main user, the Faculty of Management Sciences (FdM), supplemented with general education facilities, hospitality and a culture / theater space for the Campus. A substantial expansion (approx. 5300m2) and a major renovation (approx. 12,750m2) are necessary. The 1st phase (expansion and subdivision) was closed in May 2017; The 2nd phase (remnant renovation) follows December 2017.
Urban construction, the complex has been completed with the addition of a 4th building block on the north side, including an adjustment of the (partly deepened) landscape.
Architectonically, the northern part enhances one appearance, enhanced on the east side by the addition of 3 floating “links” between the building blocks. The interior, also provided by AAI, has been completely renewed and tailored to the new users.
